JÜNGERKÜHN: soft touch

JÜNGERKÜHN is a design studio from Berlin. They work with ceramics and digital tools. In the exhibition Soft Touch, they show how machines and porcelain can work together.

A special machine moves in programmed paths. At the same time, it reacts to the soft porcelain material. The porcelain objects have many coloured layers. They are cast and covered with colour. Afterwards, material is carefully removed. This process reveals the layers inside. Each object looks similar, but every piece is different.

Soft Touch shows ceramics that are made by hand and by machine at the same time. The works are not only digital and not only handmade. They show how design today can be open, experimental and closely connected to the material. The exhibition is supported by the friends’ association Die Keramischen e.V.
