Since 1997, the “Children in the Museum” project at the International Ceramics Museum has been inviting young visitors to discover culture and history in a lively way. With age-appropriate, creative museum education, it awakens curiosity for the design and use of objects and materials through the ages.
The practical activities in the museum studio build a bridge between
the museum object and the world in which young people live. Their own creative experience arises from the encounter with the exhibits.
In the children’s hands-on series, young experts aged 10 to 18 lead exciting guided tours for children aged 6 and over. Selected museum artefacts are presented at eye level and in a child-friendly way. Each tour is dedicated to a specific topic and ends with practical work in the museum studio. The young people can receive the certificate of competence in culture from the Federal Association of Youth Art Schools (BJKE).
The museum education programme Children in the Museum is developed and realised in cooperation with the youth art school Kulturwerkstatt Kalmreuth / Kunstbau Weiden.
Admission and participation are free of charge as part of the celebration of the Refrehsment. Please register at keramikmuseum@weiden.de or 0961/81 42 41
