Regional Library and Reading Café
Also in the Waldsassener Kasten: reading and enjoyment
The historic Waldsassener Kasten is home not only to the Ceramics Museum but also to the Weiden Regional Library– with nearly 130,000 items, a unique institution in northern Bavaria. With roughly 1,000 visitors per day, it is regularly ranked among the top three libraries of its size in Germany.
Alongside books, digital services, and the “Library of Things,” cultural events such as the Weiden Literature Days and the longstanding Wine-Picking and Reading Festival attract visitors to the shared baroque courtyard.
The cozy reading café run by master confectioner Elly offers homemade cakes, pastries and savory dishes – perfect for a relaxing break between your museum visit and browsing.
