Five Bavarian museums cooperate in Weiden with Die Neue Sammlung.

The International Ceramics Museum Weiden owes its uniqueness to an exceptional collaboration: On the upper floor, five major Bavarian state museums present their ceramic collections. This unique diversity enables visitors to experience masterpieces under a single roof that would otherwise be scattered across Munich’s major museums.

State Collections of Antiquities

The State Collections of Antiquities is one of the internationally leading museums for the art of Classi-cal Antiquity. On display are Greek, Roman and Etruscan masterpieces – from vases and sculpture to gold jewelry and glass items, as well as bronze works from the 3rd millennium BCE to around 500 CE.

Archaeological State Collection

The Archaeological State Collection is Bavaria’s central state museum for prehistory and early history. It presents archaeological finds from the Paleolithic to the early Middle Ages – from Bavaria as well as the Mediterranean and the Middle East, illustrating trans-regional links in cultural history.

Museum Fünf Kontinente

The Museum Fünf Kontinente possesses one of the world’s largest and most significant ethnological collections. The total of some 160,000 objects covers art and everyday culture in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East.

State Museum of Egyptian Art

The State Museum of Egyptian Art is home to one of the most esteemed collections of Egyptian art in the world. It presents 5,000 years of Ancient Egyptian culture – from sculpture and reliefs to gold jewelry, objects of everyday life, and religious items.

Bayerisches Nationalmuseum

Bayerisches Nationalmuseum is one of Europe’s great art and cultural history museums. It presents Eu-ropean art and culture from Late Classical Antiquity to Art Nouveau: sculptures, painting, furniture, textiles, and the applied arts.
