Exhibitions

We look forward to your visit!

The International Ceramics Museum Weiden features an exhibition space of some 1,000 square meters, where it presents artisanal objects, artworks, and design pieces from a wide range of eras and cultures. The exhibition galleries in the historic Waldsassener Kasten were extensively modernized in 2025 and now provide optimal conditions for the invaluable loans from the six Bavarian state museums involved.

The museum is located at the heart of the porcelain belt in northeast Bavaria, one of Europe’s longest standing ceramic-making regions. These local roots are paired with the collections’ global thrust – from the Stone Age through Classical Antiquity to the present day, from Europe to Asia and America. The items from public collections are complemented by both the Seltmann Collection of Chinese porcelain and changing special exhibitions on contemporary ceramics.
